Product Description

Cartridge heaters are made of a swaged construction that consists in a high-grade nickel chromium resistance wire wound around a high-quality MgO core that is centered in a stainless steel casing.

Cartridge heaters are used for heating metal parts, molds and many other applications. Cartridge heaters are available in wide variety of diameters and configurations. Besides, our engineers will design a unique heater for your special application.

►TERMINATION OPTIONS

Swaged-in Flexible Leads
Swaged-in flexible leads are used in applications where a high degree of flexing exists or the leads must be bent sharply upon exiting the heater. The stranded wire leads are connected internally and exit through the lead end.

Straight Stainless Steel Hose (Flexible Conduit)
Straight stainless steel hose provides maximum lead protection against abrasion from sharp edges. It also offers ease of handling and wiring in abrasive environments. Hose is swaged into the heater for maximum protection.

Straight Stainless Steel Braid
Straight stainless steel braid provides excellent abrasion protection against sharp edges. It’s the most flexible protective lead arrangement and it allows the leads to be bent in a tight radius. As the braid is swaged in, it is resistant to pulling out of the heater.

Right Angle Leads
Right angle leads are ideal for applications where space is limited. Lead wires are connected internally (swaged-in) and exit at a 90 degree angle at the end of the heater.

Right Angle Stainless Steel Hose
Right angle stainless steel hose offers the same advantages as swaged in stainless steel hose but allows use in tight spaces. Like the straight stainless steel hose, it protects leads from abrasion against sharp edges.

Right Angle Stainless Steel Braid
Right angle stainless steel braid offers the same advantages as straight stainless steel braid but allows use in tight spaces. Like the straight stainless steel braid, it protects leads from abrasion against sharp edges.

Ceramic Beads
When the temperature at the exit area of the heater is higher than 600°C, ceramic beads protect the wires until conventional insulation can be utilized. The beads fit over solid conductors that extend to reach a cooler area where flexible wires can be attached.

►SLEEVING OPTIONS

Wire Type Max Temperature Comments
Fiberglass Sleeving 240°C Good for lead protection
Silicon Rubber 200°C Good for lead protection

►INTERNAL THERMOCOUPLE

  • Built-in thermocouples can be of type “J” or type “K”, grounded or ungrounded, and attached either at the disc end of middle of the cartridge
  • Unless specified, thermocouple lead are the same length as the power leads.
